This jewelry is an eternity knot, which is one of the eight Tibetan Buddhist auspicious signs that symbolizes the eternal flow of all existence and Buddha's infinite wisdom and compassion. The Buddhist culture is 2500 years old and has its origins in India. Buddhism came to Tibet in the 7th century before Christ.
It is remarkable that the same symbol is also found in Old Nordic and Celtic ornamentation, where the Celtic knot can be dated back to the first millennium before Christ. There are similar symbols from the Viking Age.
